The screed operates as a thermal mass, absorbing and distributing heat. Using its thermal conductivity, the screed transfers the heat from the pipes through the floor, then upwards into the room.
Dry (electric) underfloor heating systems
Dry underfloor heating systems are operated by the electricity supply, so they are ideal for spaces where there is no plumbing. They are, however, more expensive to run than wet or screed UFH systems.
